The Polish pharmaceutical company is carrying out an investment aimed at significantly increasing the production capacity in terms of production of medicines and cosmetics, among others. As part of the project, the company plans to extend the plants located in Ksawerów and Pabianice and develop a central warehouse. The total value of expenditures amounts to approximately 120 million PLN. The investment is carried out in connection with the decision of the Łódź Special Economic Zone with regard to the company’s application as part of the Polish Investment Zone program.

The project constitutes a response to ambitious plans for the company's development on both the Polish market and abroad. Currently, Aflofarm has four production plants - in Pabianice, Ksawerów, Rzgów and Kraków. The latter plant joined the company at the beginning of 2019 as a result of the merger with the Kraków-based company Scan Anida – manufacturer of medicinal products and natural cosmetics. This year, the company celebrates its 30th anniversary and everything indicates that it intends to develop further intensively.

Expansion of our plants is a key element from the point of view of ambitious plans for the development of our portfolio. Only this year we have already launched several new brands, including our first biological medicine. We have high plans for the development of OTC drugs and prescription products. However, you cannot develop your portfolio without expanding the production and storage as well as R&D facilities, asserts Jacek Furman, President at Aflofarm.

The expansion of the plants primarily involves increasing the factory space with new production and laboratory areas. For this purpose, the company purchased a plot adjacent to the plant in Ksawerów, with an area of nearly 2 ha, with a view to expanding the plant. At the same time, modernization works are under way in both factories. According to estimates, the implemented project will contribute to an increase of the company's production capacity by approx. 30%

The implementation of the company's strategic goals in the area of portfolio development and development of the company structures on foreign markets will also require appropriate warehouse service. This role will be played by an object that will be built next to the factory in Pabianice and constitute the distribution center for the entire company. The central warehouse will be a high storage facility, largely automated, with a capacity of about 20,000 pallets. A link will be established between the central warehouse and the factory in Pabianice, which will facilitate communication between the buildings

The project for developing a central warehouse will allow us to optimize the company’s storage processes and secure our needs in this area in the upcoming years. Thus far, we had to outsource a large part of the warehouse processes. Construction of the central warehouse will significantly improve this process in terms of both logistics and economy, adds Furman.

Development outside the country is nowadays one of the strategic areas of the company's development. For this purpose, at the beginning of 2018, a new department of foreign markets was created. The first step will be the establishment of company structures in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and the next - strengthening and further development of strong representations. The company's products are already sold in 28 countries around the world.

As a result of the investment, the company plans to increase employment by several dozen people. Construction works are already underway, and the completion date is scheduled for Q2 2020.
